Happy Chinese New Year! Are you ready to connect with this year's animal, (the water tiger)? Here are some fun facts about the Chinese new year and tips on how to manifest during this new cycle. Plus find your zodiac sign!
What is the Chinese New Year?
It's a calendar in which the dates indicate both the moon phases and the time of the solar year. Unlike in the western hemisphere we calculate by the solar time.
How does it work?
Each month is about 29.5 days long, which total to 354 days a year. So there is a 11 day difference which is made up by other variables. Then on the 2nd or 3rd new moon after the winter solstice they celebrate the new year.
Tell us about the zodiac?
The word itself means "little circle of animals". It is classified on a lunisolar calendar so it corresponds to years not months. It assigns an animal and it's traits to each year in a repeating 12 year cycle. The cycle is actually an orbital period of Jupiter.
Are there elements to this zodiac too?
In the west we have 5 elements (fire, earth, air and water) and so does the Chinese zodiac but with different elements. The cycle of the elements each rules 2 years and repeats in order. Which goes as follows metal, water, wood, fire and earth.
What can we expect from a water element year?
It's time to see the abundance flowing over! And for us to go with the flow. Unlike the ox year, we had strict rules to follow and worked hard to build a solid foundation. We can also get more creative on how to manifest our goals. Let your imagination run wild!
So how can I be successful in the year of the water tiger?
Change your strips and work it bruji! It's a time to invoke your uniqueness and not worry about what others think or compare yourself to anyone. So make moves on the low! The tiger works solo and hunts at night time. Can we be working after dark? Absolutely! Inspo may brew at that time and we can even get messages in our dreams. Keeping a dream journal plus doing dream work can also bring inspirational guidance.
This new lunar year of the water tiger will invite more flow than structure so be open to the process. Here are some more tips! Carry a talisman of the tiger to bring in luck, energetic support and positive vibras. If you'd like to prepare for the celebration add flowers in the center of your home, clean + reset your altar (or home), wear red for good luck, and give red envelopes with money as gifts for prosperity and abundance for the year ahead.
